King Peleus of Thessaly watched the contest of arms between his son and the Captain of the Royal Guard Ajax, Prince Achilles like Ajax was a true hero, destined to find everlasting fame and glory on the battle field of a as yet unknown Kingdom. It was foretold at the wedding of Prince Peleus to the sea Nymph Thetis. The Wedding was the event of the age. All of Olympus attended. All the Gods and Goddess's from above as well as below were invited. All but One. A goddess sister to Ares the God of War, and her name is Eris the goddess of Discord sewing seeds of destruction. Eris was livid. How dare a mortal King and Proteus upstart daughter insult her. She sat fuming and plotting. Her vengeance would hurt the Olympians as well as Peleus and Thetis. First she went to Hades Lord of the Underworld. She promised a Harvest of souls if he would loan her his Helmet of Invisibility. She gave him a glimpse of her plan, he laughed at trick about to be played on the Olympians. His Brothers and Sisters had always treated him with scorn. She appeared in Peleus's fortress, donning the Helmet. Creeping slowly among the Gods she stood behind Aphrodite as she argued with Hera and Athena about Love vs War. Eris rolled a Golden Apple in their midst. Inscribed "For the Fairest" the Apple was claimed by the 3 most powerful Goddess's. The Wedding banquet ended with the 3 Goddess's being sent to a very stupid Prince of Troy to judge which was the Fairest. Meanwhile Eris appeared to Peleus in a dream. Foretelling the future birth of 7 sons, 6 of whom would die before a year old. The 7th would grow to become a mighty warrior. He would perish by the hand of a lesser man. King Peleus remembered these events as he watched his son defeat Captain Ajax.

Bowing too the King, Achilles said what is your wish of me father? My son your Uncle has asked me to remind you that your cousin Patroclus turns 12 today and it your responsibility to take the boy to be your Eromenos. As his Erastes it is your duty to teach him how to become a warrior and a lover. Father I was unaware his 12th year was today! That explains the preparations for a feast. Patroclus is a comely lad, and his eyes are as blue as Lord Poseidon's Sea. It will be my honor to have the boy as my Eromenos. Excellent replied Peleus, do you have a gift for your cousin he asked? Yes I have, Mother fashioned me necklace of of spun gold and a black pearl from the southern oceans of Atlantis. How nice, I am giving him a jar of patchouli oil, to scent his bath. Father you know patchouli is my favorite scented oil. Really son ? imagine that, he said with a smirk. I wonder how you will react when he wears it tonight? Bowing before his father, he said I'm going to bathe care to join me? Not today son I will speak to Captain Ajax first then a newly acquired slave will attend me as I bathe. Splendid I hope your new acquisition is pleasing to you. Thank you son. Achilles left the throne room humming a tune he happened to hear in the barracks. His father looked at Ajax and asked is the boy in his room? Yes sure as you ordered. And in my chamber? Your new bed slave. Excellent Captain thank you. Sire if I might say? I have never seen a lad more beautiful than the Macedonian. Blonde curls and startling emerald eyes with a mouth watering behind that would arouse a corpse. Ajax had purchased the boy in the slave market before the dealer could even display him. Like Patroclus the slave was 12 yo. Peleus gave Ajax his thanks and retired to his rooms. He wanted to see this slave for himself. To be continued in Chapter 2.
